I have been a Physical Therapist for over ten years treating patients with orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. I have been an athlete my whole life, and because I know how good it feels to be active, I have always been interested in the fitness field. I especially like to help people who have been sidelined with injury resume their normal life activities. In 1998 I obtained my NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification. This education has helped to improve my ability to develop comprehensive training programs for clients of all ages and fitness levels. Combining my knowledge as a Physical Therapist and Conditioning Specialist, I have been able to successfully work with clients that are recovering from injury or want to reach a new level in fitness.

I believe in a functional training approach to exercise. The functional approach trains individuals with movements that mimic actions made in everyday life. For example, rather than sit in a machine and push weight stacks, functional training incorporates movements that are necessary as part of everyday life, such as stepping up stairs or lifting objects off the floor. Functional training can also be used for athletes to improve their game. I like to focus on training "movement patterns" in order to better prepare the body for the movements necessary in every day life and in active recreation. Training movement patterns improves performance in everyday life and in sports, and also helps prevent injury.

I believe it is most important to concentrate on proper technique, posture and good form during exercise. Once the basic foundation is mastered, progression to more advanced training comes much more easily. When I work with a new client, I will perform an initial assessment of his or her fitness level and then customize a training program that is geared toward the achievement of his or her own goals. I constantly challenge my clients and I make sure I keep modifying the program to prevent boredom and assure continual progress. My long term vision is for the client to remain motivated and focused on his or her goals.

I have designed a Golf Conditioning Program to help golfers take strokes off their game, drive the ball further, and recover from chronic neck, back, shoulder, or elbow pain
